Hyrdra Pressed Pavers

Manufactured under 2,250+ PSI of hydraulic pressure, HydraPressed pavers achieve a compressive strength exceeding 8,000 PSI — roughly twice that of conventional concrete pavers. The process
eliminates air pockets and excess moisture, producing a slab that’s denser, more dimensionally precise, and built to handle heavy foot traffic, harsh weather, and years of UV exposure without
cracking or surface degradation. Natural stone aesthetics. Concrete durability. Zero maintenance headaches.

How a Hydra Pressed Roof Paver Systems Work

The system starts with the pavers themselves — hydraulic-pressed concrete slabs with true, square edges and consistent dimensions across every unit. That precision matters because these pavers
aren’t set in mortar or sand. They sit on height-adjustable pedestals that create an elevated surface above the roof membrane.

Each pedestal supports the corners of up to four pavers, distributing weight evenly while allowing fine-tuned height and slope adjustment. The gap between the paver surface and the roof below
serves as a drainage plane and ventilation channel — water flows through the joints, across the membrane, and into the existing roof drain system. No ponding. No trapped moisture.

Because nothing is adhered to the roof, the membrane stays fully accessible for inspection and repair. Pull a paver, check the membrane, set it back. The entire surface is modular — individual
pavers can be lifted, repositioned, or replaced without disturbing the surrounding installation.

Slope compensation is built into the pedestal design. On roofs with up to a half-inch per foot of pitch, the pedestals adjust to create a level walking surface overhead while the membrane below
continues to drain as intended. No shimming, no field-cutting, no guesswork.

The result is a finished rooftop surface that looks and feels like a ground-level patio — but with engineered drainage, membrane protection, and full serviceability underneath.

about bison roof paver products

Bison Innovative Products introduced the Screwjack adjustable deck pedestal to the US market in 1994. Now Bison rooftop paver products are manufactured in Denver, Colorado. Bison pedestals are known for their patented features that improve performance and stability in raised deck systems. Bison revolutionized the concept of gravity-based pedestals. They quickly install without damaging waterproof roof membranes found on almost all commercial buildings. Bison pedestals offer the largest bearing surface area for improved support of wood deck tiles, stone paver tiles, concrete pavers, and deck cubes.

Bison Low-Maintenance Hardwood Decks

In 2009 Bison became FSC®-certified and now sources FSC® wood tiles. Bison executives travel to Brazil to ensure Ipê and Massaranduba hardwood used  in their products comes from forests implementing sustainable and FSC®-certified forestry practices that maintain the health of the rainforests and the economic viability of local communities.

Frequently Asked Roof Paver Questions (FAQ)

How much does a roof paver deck system cost?

A: The cost of a Rooftop Paver deck system depends on the size of the deck area and the type of material specified. The square footage of the deck area is used to calculate the number of adjustable pedestals needed and the number of roof pavers. The type of roof pavers specified also impacts the number of pedestals used in the project and the overall cost. The deck material cost varies as well. Wood deck tile is priced differently than 2cm porcelain pavers. Call Elevated Deck Systems to get an estimate today.

A: A roof paver is a modular, load-bearing tile designed for installation on rooftop surfaces to create walkable outdoor spaces such as decks, patios, and terraces. Made from materials like porcelain, concrete, or hardwood, roof pavers are typically installed over pedestal systems that provide elevation, drainage, and slope correction—transforming uneven rooftops into functional, level environments without penetrating the waterproofing membrane.
A: Most porcelain roof pavers are manufactured at a standardized thickness of 2 centimeters (approximately 0.79 inches). Concrete roof pavers are typically thicker and heavier, ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 inches, depending on the load requirements and application. Regardless of material or thickness, a stainless steel paver tray or backing is required. These trays provide critical structural support to prevent flexing or cracking of the paver—especially with porcelain, which can be brittle under point loads. Without proper support, a paver may fracture and potentially damage the surface or membrane below.

A: Adjustable pedestals provide a foundation that supports decking materials and ensures a flat surface on sloping roofs. They also compensate for any inclinations with a slope adjuster feature, which is essential for stability and aesthetic appeal, and they allow for proper drainage and concealment of services underneath the deck.

A: When choosing deck pedestals, consider the weight they will need to support, the material of the pavers, and the compatibility with wood tiles, porcelain pavers, or deck grating. Look for pedestals with height and slope adjustability to cater to different elevation requirements, ensuring a secure and level construction.

A: Deck systems accommodate a range of materials, such as wood tiles that bring a natural aesthetic; porcelain pavers that offer a sleek, modern finish; and deck grating for efficient drainage. These materials cater to various design preferences and functional requirements, from creating an inviting natural look to ensuring durability and ease of maintenance.

A: Deck grating systems play a crucial role in efficient water drainage, preventing pooling and related damage. They ensure the deck surface remains dry and facilitate water channeling away from the decks and towards drainage outlets, enhancing safety and prolonging the deck’s lifespan.

A: TurfGrate and TileGrate are innovative deck grating options for pedestal deck systems. TurfGrate supports turf areas ensuring durability and drainage atop urban decks, while TileGrate allows for tile installations without compromising structural integrity. Both integrate with adjustable pedestals for level adjustments and contribute to the deck’s aesthetic and functional performance.
