Bison 2CM porcelain pavers are a high-quality, commercial-grade solution for demanding outdoor applications. The specialized roof pavers meet or exceed rigorous industry standards.
- They have a water absorption rate below 0.1%—significantly better than the maximum allowable 0.5%.
- They exceed the ASTM C648 standard for breaking strength with a rating of over 3000 lbs, more than 10x better than traditional porcelain or travertine tile.
- More scratch resistant than concrete. They have a Mohs hardness rating of 8 compared to 6 for concrete.
- They have thermal shock resistance to harsh temperature changes.
- Chemical resilience against household and pool chemicals, as well as varying concentrations of acids and alkalis.
- Meets ANSI A137.1 DCOF requirements with a wet friction coefficient above 0.42, supporting safety in wet conditions.
- A range of Solar Reflectance Index (SRI) ratings from 29 to 71, enhances their suitability for sun-exposed applications, providing options to reduce heat absorption in outdoor spaces.
Cleaning and Maintainence
Cleaning:
All spills should be cleaned as quickly as possible from porcelain pavers following the cleaning procedure below:
- Check manufacturer’s safety data sheets (SDS) for recommended personal protective equipment (safety glasses, respirators, and gloves) as well as safe handling practices, and disposal considerations in accordance with applicable laws.
- Sweep thoroughly and mop with a clean damp mop using a pH balanced mild household detergent such as diluted dish soap to gently remove dirt, debris, or light stains.
- Pick an inconspicuous area to clean first, before cleaning the entire deck.
- Use ZEP ALL-IN-1 Premium Pressure Wash concentration (following recommended dilution ratio) and then thoroughly rinse.
Deep Cleaning:
- Check the roofing and drainage systems SDS to ensure chemical and environmental stability of materials.
- Follow Cleaning steps 1-3 above.
- Focus on small areas to avoid contact with underlying tray and adhesive, as they may be adversely affected by these cleaners.
- Use the following cleaners for the corresponding stains:
- Dirt, grease, grime, mold, mildew, and algae: 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner or Simple Green Concrete and Driveway Cleaner
- Food, drink, dyes, oils, and organic stains: FILA CLEANALL
- Rust or lime scale stains: FILA DETERDEK
Pressure Washing:
- Set the pressure washer to a pressure of 1200 psi or less.
- Test an inconspicuous area first.
- Clean the entire deck to avoid lap marks.
- Avoid direct pressure stream on bonding adhesive.
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any concentrate or solutions and prevent chemical build up.
- Remove any standing water with a squeegee to help prevent dirt or chemical deposits from drying on surface.
warning do not use:
- Abrasives: Cleaners, brushes with hard metal bristles, scouring pads, steel wool, or sandpaper.
- Acidic or Alkaline Substances (high or low pH): Vinegar, cleaners with acids, alcohol, ammonia, or strong alkaline agents. Low pH cleaners can damage glazed surfaces of the pavers. High pH can discolor pavers and degrade adhesive bonds.
- Strong Oxidizing Agents: Alcohol, calcium hypochlorite, methylene chloride, potassium permanganate, liquid chlorine, or others.
- Commercial floor scrubbers or buffing machines.
